It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of Pope Francis. The world has not only lost a spiritual leader, but also one of the ID judo community’s greatest advocates. He was the first pope to publicly support athletes with intellectual disabilities, bestowing his personal blessing on the first Para-Judo World Championships (ID) in 2017 in Cologne and offering his moral support to the athletes worldwide. For IFoN.World and thousands of ID judoka worldwide, his legacy remains a mission: to fight for dignity, visibility and participation.
